A fun, new activity that will have adventure enthusiasts everywhere in “almost heaven” is certainly Geocaching. Just gaining popularity in recent years, geocaching is a great way to go out and explore everything Charleston has to offer. Designed around finding small gems using a Global Tracking Device (GPS), geocaching takes the theme of a high-tech treasure hunt. Once found, many caches will have small trinkets placed inside that have little or no monetary value to the normal person, however that is not to geocachers. These prizes are symbols of the task that has been overcome. Proper etiquette is to replace the taken item with something of your own, that way when the next person comes along, they may do the same. And don’t forget to sign the logbook, which keeps track of who all has been to that location previously.
Geocaching locations can vary around the city. You may find some within walking distance of the Wingate, or just a quick 5-10 minute drive away. Be sure to look up the nearest cache location using our free high-speed Internet, and when you come back you’ll have the comfort of relaxing in our indoor spa tub and in our newly renovated complex. Don’t hesitate to stop by the front desk if you have any questions.
