Charleston Ballet

The Charleston Ballet was formed in 1956 by Andre Van Damme. It is the state’s official ballet company and has been a pioneer for regional ballet troupes around the United States. For five decades, the civic troupe has enriched the cultural life of West Virginia, performing hundreds of traditional and original ballets. The Charleston Ballet Theatre is truly an integral part of Charleston's cultural life and providing a sense of professionalism, artistic integrity, and commitment to the community in sharing the art of dance with local school children, with dancers-in-training, and with local, regional and national audiences. The ballet also has been one of the most socially responsible groups in the community as they are known for their artistic integrity and discipline. The theatre is located at 100 Capitol Street in downtown Charleston, and be sure to call them at (304)342-6541 to learn about the upcoming show schedule.
