Some of the most common questions from our guests at the Wingate are inquiries about locations where they can enjoy local Charleston food. We have to admit, Charleston’s Historic East End is one of the best areas in the city to try some restaurants unique to the area. With over 25 restaurants located in the East End, it truly depends on what each guest is in the mood for. However, we chose some of our favorites to recommend.
A visit to southern West Virginia is not complete unless you have tried Tudors Biscuit World. The comfort food eatery specializes in making the best biscuit-sandwich combinations you have ever tasted, really. Ask any Charlestonian who has moved out of the city for the things which they miss most, and Tudors Biscuit World is sure to be on the list. Tudors is perfect if you are looking for a quick, hearty meal at low cost.
If it’s Italian you’re in the mood for, we highly recommend SOHO’s Italian Restaurant in the Capitol Market. SOHO’s is repeatedly a favorite place for Charleston locals to take family and friends who are visiting the area for the special “Charleston experience.” The restaurant boasts a nationally-recognized wine selection on top of their exceptional entrees and side dishes.
We recommend The Fresh Seafood Company if you are looking for some great fish and seafood, also located in the Capitol Market. During lunch, guests can close form over a dozen different seafood sandwiches from swordfish, grouper, catfish, seafood delight tuna salad and much more.
The East End is a 10-minute car ride from the Wingate by Wyndham. Work up an appetite exploring the historic area and getting a feel for the city before you settle down for a meal.
