Despite the challenges, there were signs of progress. The team made significant setup adjustments overnight, which showed promise in Q1 and Q2. However, Q3 didn't go as planned, with Norris making a mistake at the Nouvelle chicane, costing him valuable time and a potential higher grid position.
"It's a learning curve for us," Norris reflects. "We're still trying to understand the car's limits and how to extract the most from it. Monaco is a unique challenge, and it exposed some of our weaknesses."
Looking ahead, McLaren is hoping for opportunities to arise during the race, allowing them to capitalize on their hard work and dedication. The team's late-night efforts to repair Norris' car after a practice stoppage demonstrate their commitment to improving their performance.
"We're a resilient team," Piastri adds. "We'll take the lessons from Monaco and apply them to future races. It's a long season, and we're determined to turn things around."
