It turns out that individuals who tend to be more agreeable and open (meaning they're receptive to new ideas and experiences) often gravitate towards wines with a higher alcohol content. Think of rich, full-bodied wines like a Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Port, or Sherry. These are typically perceived as having a more complex and robust flavor profile, which seems to appeal to those who enjoy deeper sensory experiences and perhaps a richer taste. The researchers suggest that for agreeable individuals, choosing these higher-quality perceived wines might also be a way to gain social approval or enhance their standing in social settings.
And this is the part most people miss... The study found something a bit unexpected when it came to extraversion. You might assume that outgoing, sociable people would prefer stronger drinks, but the data showed that extroverts actually tend to opt for wines with lower alcohol content.
